Quetta: Teachers of Balochistan University have initiated a charity
movement. Owing to the weak financial conditions faced by the
Baluchistan University, the teaching faculty and employees have stepped
forward in unusual way to meet the demand
The teachers carrying bowls for donations are witnessed on several round bouts of the city. They say that the financial demand, need of the university has not been made by the Baluchistan Governor and the University Vice Chancellor. Hence, the university is short of funds.
Non-co-operation by the high officials has resulted in serious issues not to the faculty members only but other employees and the students too, suffer loss. During the charity movement, teachers and various other university officials have not only demanded of their salaries but have also asked the authorities to pay the allowances and house requisition. Action Committee has announced to continue the movement till the fulfillment of the demands.
It is pertinent here to mention that incompetency of the provincial government and reduction of 50 % funds by Higher Education Commission (HEC) has brought the educational system at halt.
Member of Joint Action Committee Professor Kaleem Ullah said that the government has not been supportive in providing resources to the university.
It is saddening to see, that a province rich of natural resources is facing with financial issues in one of its biggest government run institution. Lack of support by the government has resulted in the members to take to streets, demanding of financial help. The movement itself is story of their miseries.
